Corona, day 30, March 27 2020
As all or at least most countries in the world, the Netherlands is in a kind of lockdown due to Corona virus. (COVID19)
Why a kind of lockdown? Well, our government hasn’t closed the borders entirely, only for countries outside of Europe and countries where the break out is worse then others. Dutch people stranded in those countries are allowed back in though.
We are allowed to go outside, but with the restriction to keep 1,5 meters between ourselves and any other person. It is also said that the best way not to contract Corona virus is to stay in.
The first Corona patient in the Netherlands was discovered February 27th, 2020. He visited the carnaval in Brabant, currently the province with the highest number of patients.
Measures from that time:
- March 16th, all horeca and schools closed untill April 6, 2020, work from home when possible. All events over 100 persons cancelled untill April 6, 2020.
- March 23rd, work from home when possible, if one person has symptoms, the whole family has to be quarantined. One and a half meters distance between two persons at all times. Neglecting this rule can be punished with money fines by the police. Don’t go out unless you have to (groceries or work). All major events cancelled untill June first, also with less than 100 people.
Today 7431 people with Corona Virus (the ones that have been tested, possibly more), 2151 have been hospitalized and 434 people have died from this virus. (source: RIVM 26 maart 2020)
I have been home for 2,5 weeks now. Not because I am sick, although i did have a cold that wouldn’t go away and still zimmers a bit, but because i think it is the only way to get a grip on this very deadly disease.
As a photographer it does give me loads of restrictions. I would love to go out and take those photographs that I normally couldn’t take. Think about empty streets, empty bridges, every place that would normally be tainted by lots of people and/or traffic. But i don’t. I restrict myself to other ways of photography for the time being.
So the coming time i will upload some of those photo’s, but also photo manipulations that are made either in my home or in/from my garden. Thank god for telelenses 🙂
I will also be posting some digital paintings made from photo’s i took earlier in the year or last year.
And I will describe how it is for me to be restricted to my home and garden.
